I love my songwriting "tribe."

In 2008, I found my "people." Something deep inside pulled me to the Omega Institute of Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck, NY, to participate in Jimmie Dale Gilmore's Songwriting workshop. I'll always be grateful to the mysterious voice inside that whispered, "check it out. Go see if you can write a song."

I love music. I simply wanted to answer the question, "Can I write a song?"

As it turned out, I left Omega still unsure about the whole songwriting thing - but completely sure that something life changing had occurred. Among this eclectic collection of people, I feel "more me than ME." 

Each year, there are folks who return, and a handful of new people show up. I love how the community makes space for the new people to go through whatever process they need to, until they discover that they, too, are a part of something. They belong, because they've shown up and participated. And somehow by the end of the week we spend together, new songs have been born; new awarenesses have blossomed; new friendships have been forged, and existing ones have deepened. It doesn't get better than that.
